Pinball In the Pines!

After the Passing of a great friend, rider Trev put the idea forward to have a ride in his honor and raise some much need funds for his family, 30 guys put their hands and money up for this ride. If you ever met Bruce Mcfarlane you may remember his passion for Vintage Motocross. It was great to see Ann and the kids Ally, Daniel and Amy attending the ride.

The weather on Saturday the 1st of may turned out to be  Just perfect after weeks of rain we now were blessed with blue sky and just the right temperature and we knew there would be virtually NO Dust.

As you would expect with 30 guys who normally race together on the track, the pace was pretty hectic, thank goodness Bill uses the corner man system, We blasted along the trails, playing in the mud like little boy’s , Until we reached the mother of all mud hills stopping most of us from getting to the top, Boby’ s bike boiling over after the 5 th attempt, we regrouped and took the long way round.( don’t get me started )

Smoko was fantastic, Trevs Good Wife organized it, all the Muffins and yummy Cake you could eat Thanks to the Flaxton Barn for the top food in the middle of nowhere.

We all thought well at least we we can find another way round right - wrong Bill led us up this Erzberg Hill with tight turns deep ruts and big roots across the track, It wasn’t long before peter manage to flip one of the  SCAR bikes, you know the rule you break it you own it, .even the parking of the bike proved to be illusive, even at standstill the Kato managed to fall over, Just as well he liked the 2010 ktm 400. .After a few managed to fight their way to the top they setup a sling to grab the bikes and drag the bike and rider to the top.

Flying up from Sydney, Ribbo was on Piggot’s 2009 TM 450, I asked how was it, he kindly informed me that the big TM was a 450 on steroids and it was his first trail ride, It wasn’t long before the TM beat him into submission, bending the rear sub frame and destroying the speedo - which is a good thing Piggy probably didn’t want to know how fast he was going anyway.

Ribbo wasn’t the only one to sample the delights of sunshine coast forestry dirt, I decided to slow and have a break as i left the track at walking speed i entered the long grass, I didn’t see the log, down i went, No harm accept to my ego.

With Hi count of KTMs on the ride we had our failures rear wheel bearings on Rusty’s bike and the Ignition system on Pete’s The good thing at least most parts are interchangeable between models and years to keep 1 going.

We all managed to get back in one piece Darren had the BBQ going with a few light beer’s it topped off a great day to remember a great bloke.  Hopefully we will do it again next year.

Special Thanks to Bill, Darren, and Steve and from Scar donating their time for this event and Trevor for bringing the idea to reality.
